Chapter 9 Part 2- The Dawning                Haughtiness ends all roads      Day after day, for 9 days, Sydney remained in his room burning up with fever. Sometimes, his face was sticky with sweat, and he abandoned his blankets. Other days, his face was pale, and he shivered under the quilts. One time, sobs racked his tall frame, and he kept on muttering things. Darling took special care of him, and Tim watched over him too. To Tim, Sydney was,  “A poor fellow that has stumbled upon dreadful misfortune.” Only Tim could say this kind statement, because he had not spoken to Sydney. The first time Tim laid eyes on him, he was knee-deep in fever. But Maia and Phoebe had been privy to his rudeness. Quite contrary to this Darling was his constant companion. Like likes like, so perhaps this is why Darling took to this young man. Darling tongue and his were equally sharp. Maybeshe wanted to help a creature less fortunat...

Chapter 8 Part 2- The Dawning Dust gathers even on the statues of great men.        In the last week of the month Darling had given them, Phoebe and Maia sat in the garden. The stone was cold beneath Maia’s fingers. They were talking about erratic things, never staying on the same subject long, and then lapsing into silence. The mud was cracked and dry, but he had obviously tried to clean himself. He stood haughtily despite his disheveled state.  “Is this a residence that will allow me to stay for a couple of days? I am parched, and hungry.” Maia was taken aback. Not by his request, but by the manner in which he s...

Chapter 7 Part 2- The Dawning Poor and uneducated men have risen from the dust Risen from the dust Risen from the dust to put others Where they came from Where they came from As Darling correctly said, they would begin learning how to control Elements later. Not that night, but soon. Soon turned into, “A month.” said Darling at Phoebe’s eager asking. “Take a month for your cousins to settle in, and for your uncle to recover a bit more.” Benjamin’s sick room, one you would have thought to strictly contain people walking and speaking softly, and only allowing their thoughts to run rampant, had become the most exciting room in the whole house. Maia and Tim were often there, which led Phoebe there, and all their combined mirth had alerted Anna, and Darling wondered where she could be when she stumbled upon this cheerful set. Now she frequently brought her work there. Mr. Hart was often in his office, but in the evening he would join them. Mr Hart was a rather proud man. When ...

Chapter 6 Part 2- The Dawning      When a person lives In poverty and destitution Grime can cover goodness And dirt can cover deeds But when the deeds are selfish And goodness is pretentious The soap will come  And the suds  And make known to the world  The double faced snake Whom some call a human Or the soap won't come  And the bad deeds will remain hidden And the false goodness will die When the snake does The effect of the deeds and goodness will forever remain But when the deeds are good And goodness is true The soap will come And the suds  Will make known to the world The angel  Who has been hidden thus far Or the soap won't come And the good deeds will remain hidden And the true goodness will die When the angel does The effect of the deeds and goodness will forever remain But the difference between this snake and angel Is that those the snake affected Will remember him for the bad And rejoice at the thought of him in a grave But...
